建仁寺の塔頭「西来院(せいらいいん)」鎌倉時代に南宋から渡来した禅僧・蘭渓道隆（らんけいどうりゅう）により創建された寺院。令和10年に迎える蘭渓道隆750年遠忌にあたり、令和6年に実施された大改修に際し、二曲一双屏風を奉納。さらに翌令和7年1月、俳人 黛まどかさんとの共作となる俳句涅槃図を制作、奉納しました。

現代の斬新 ポップ「涅槃図」

ジョン・レノンとオノ・ヨーコ、アンディー・ウォーホル、オードリー・ヘプバーン、アルベルト・アインシュタイン、聖徳太子に清少納言…。古代から現代まで、時代のアイコンが居並ぶ。手前には、ゴリラやライオン、ワニ…。
さながら、サファリパークのようだ。その中央に横たわるのは、お釈迦様。

「2025年を生きる我々が涅槃図を前にしたとき、お釈迦様のお弟子さんを描いても分からない。
立派な作品は昔からある。セオリーは守りつつ、ニュートラルにポップな感じにしたかった。清少納言だけは、まどかさんのリクエスト」。
京都が生んだロックな壁画絵師は常に時代を意識する。

俳人黛まどかさんとの共同制作

中空に浮かぶ満月には、〈春の月まどかに白砂輝かす〉の一句。
周りには、四季を詠み込んだ俳句計36句が配されている。
「Ki-Yan(キーヤン)」の愛称で知られる絵師木村英輝さんと俳人黛まどかさんの共同制作、「俳句涅槃図」だ。
このほど、建仁寺塔頭西来院(京都市東山区)に奉納された。
満月の句は、涅槃会の西来院の庭に月光が差し、白砂が輝く様子を讃え、制作者2人の名前が詠み込まれている。

ロシアのウクライナ攻撃、長引くパレスチナ問題…。
世界では、この瞬間も戦争や紛争が続き、貧困や差別に苦しんでいる人々がいる。
「そうした人々の鎮魂のため奉納した」。黛さんは発願文につづる。

Collaboration with haiku poet Ms. Madoka Mayuzumi

The work is a collaboration between Hideki Kimura, a painter known by the nickname “Ki-Yan,” and Madoka Mayuzumi, a haiku. It is called “Nirvana with Haiku”.
It was recently dedicated to the Kenninji temple’s sub-temple Seirai-in (Higashiyama, Kyoto).
The full moon haiku praises the moonlight shining on the white sand in the garden of Seirai-in Temple during the Nirvana ceremony. And the two creators names are included in the haiku.
